Record Store Day 2016 is upon us!
This will be Seasick's first RSD in our new location so we're ready to blow it out!!!
The store will be open promptly at 8 A.M. and our brand new bins will be filled with tons of fresh vinyl -- new and used -- as well as all the Record Store Day exclusives that we could get our hands on. So get to the store early so you can shop, get re-caffinated, and ready to to listen to REAL LIVE MUSIC!!!
This year Seasick has secured a cadre of killer artist guaranteed to satisfy even the most finicky of record nerds. BEHOLD:
1 P.M -- Firekid -- Florence, AL native Dillon Hodges (AKA Firekid) melted our brains last year with a set that showcased his Bluegrass-indebted guitar chops alongside a surprising proficiency in programming Nintendo Game Boys, drum machines, and sequencers. The 'Kid is full of surprises and we are thrilled to have him back!
2 P.M. -- Mothers -- Mothers are from Athens, GA and their debut album, When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired, really caught our attention with its strange amalgam of Throwing Muses and Archers of Loaf. It's powerful stuff -- and this set is only a taste of what they're capable of! You can catch their full set Saturday night at The Syndicate Lounge (Buy tickets HERE).
3 P.M. -- The Burning Peppermints -- Local heroes, The Burning Peppermints, have been making quite a name for themselves over the last year with their unique and blistering take on West Coast psych and surf rock. It's super intense and a whole lotta fun. You will dance. You will freak out. You will be glad to be alive. We only hope there will be a stage left for...
4 P.M. -- Byron The Aquarius -- Hailing from Birmingham, Byron The Aquarius has worked with artists, producers, and labels from all over the world, including a Seasick Records favorite, Flying Lotus. After a long stint producing tracks for other artists, in 2010 Byron decided to focus on his own music -- returning to Alabama to hone his craft through jazz studies and jazz composition programs in piano at Morehouse University and Jacksonville State University. Now he's creating otherworldly Deep House tracks that are sure to get you lifted.
In addition to all that great music, the good people at Good People Brewing Company will take your Record Store Day to the Next Level via a special beer brewed exclusively for Seasick Records. You'll be able to imbibe this magic potion across the parking lot at The Filling Station, who will be keeping the keg cold while serving you lots of delicious treats, so you can refuel for your next round of record shopping / partying.
If that wasn't enough, we'll also have limited edition shirts, posters, slipmats, and other sundry Record Store Day goodies available while supplies last... AND DOUGHNUTS!!!
That's right! Hero Doughnuts will be on hand with sugary treats that will serve as a burst of nitro to your deep vinyl lust. And you'll be able to wash the doughnuts down with some delicious java courtesy of Crestwood Coffee Company!
And another thing: Ono Ice will also be on hand with a special Record Store Day flavor!
We'll be keeping this party going well into the night, so we hope that you'll hang out with us all day long -- even if you need to go home and come back! Obviously, record store culture means a lot to us -- and so do our customers! Come celebrate all the things that make Record Stores great!
And, yes, you can still get your haircut.
